Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
