Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans shared condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
